Vanessa: I'm good. I'm a little. . . Me and my assistant were just doing head stands in the room because we got a little bored.
Rosie: (Laugh) Oh really.
Vanessa: We got a little bored during the commercial so we were doing head stands so I'm a little. . . (looks dizzy)
Rosie: Yeah, You're a little dizzy from that.
Vanessa: I'm o.k.
Rosie: Are you normally physically fit? Do you often do head stands?
Vanessa: I don't often do head stands. I have this great yoga guy Scott, who brings me over his back. Have you guys ever done that? (looks at audience) He like hangs me upside down over his back. (looks at audience) No? (audience is quiet)
Rosie: No I don't think so.
Vanessa: Alright!! (audience laughs)
Rosie: And it makes you feel refreshed?
Vanessa: (cuts in) There's not a lot of yoga going on in New York is there?
Rosie: I think there is all in Madonna's apartment.
Vanessa: (Laughs)
Rosie: But I've never done yoga. I tried it once and I started cracking up in the middle of the class and they asked me to leave.
(audience laughs) Because you know you have to go (puts hands together like she's praying) It's like church for me and I have to laugh and I started cracking up.
Vanessa: (Laugh) Right. It's like the way I meditate. I try to meditate for 20 minutes and figure out every single thing I'm going to do when I'm done meditating.
Rosie: Right. I understand because it's hard to do. You have to get yourself in a zone.
Vanessa: Yeah, it's very hard to shut my mind up.
Rosie: Now (gets EGO magazine out) you're on the cover of EGO magazine, which I have to say I've never heard of. Is it new?
Vanessa: it's a new men's magazine. It's a great magazine. There's something for everyone. Sex, sports, scantily clad women.
Rosie: (Holds up picture of Vanessa in EGO) That would be you.
Vanessa: And I was counting on you not to show my A.
Rosie: (Cuts in) Ohhhhhhh! Your butt.
Vanessa: Buttocks.
Rosie: Well but there's the photo.
Vanessa: There's other nice pictures.
Rosie: Well you've got clothes on there.
Vanessa: And I really want to say that I'm the least of the scantily clad women. Meaning I have the most clothes. (Looks at someone in the audience while nodding her head) Right? Cause there's some girls in here (picks up magazine) with their clothes off. But they're very beautiful young women.
Rosie: As are you. (Audience claps)
Vanessa: (in a soft voice) Thank you Rosie.
Rosie: You're welcome. I was thinking. You look a lot like Jennifer Lopez in some of these pictures. Have people said that before? (looks through the magazine)
Vanessa: Yeah. Sometimes. Probably on my good days. (Laughs)
Rosie: Well she's a very pretty woman.
Vanessa: Jennifer Lopez is gorgeous.
Rosie: Now what's the story in there' It's a serious one.
Vanessa: The thing that really attracted me to the magazine is that they said they wanted to focus on people who have over come challenges in there childhood. People who are out there trying to achieve their dreams and I over came a lot of challenges in my childhood.
Rosie: Now I wasn't really aware of this. What kind of stuff was going on?
Vanessa: Uh. . . I was. . . just. . . uh, there was a lot of domestic violence in my house hold, um as there is in a lot of house holds. I worked with a charity called Sojourn . Um it's a place that houses women and their children who have been victims of domestic violence. (looks at audience) And it's called Sojourn. And it's so important; you know if you're in that situation to get out.
Rosie: Right.
Vanessa: ESPECIALLY if you have kids. Especially if you're putting your children in that situation. And so from working with them and now talking about it to try and help people, um to step forward to get help, I'm opening up my own home called Patricia House (smiles) after my mother.
Rosie: No kidding.
Vanessa: Yeah. So it's really great. We're going to have animals there and kids come in who have been abused. They'll have their own animal to take care of.
Rosie: That's been very helpful. There's a place called Green Chimneys here in New York were they take some troubled youths and they give them animals to take care of and it really turns their life around in some way.
Vanessa: All it takes is one person who believes in you, you know when you're a kid. Sometimes you don't have that at home.
Rosie: And who was that person for you?
Vanessa: It's my mother now. But it was hard for her cause she kept me there in this situation and that was hard for her to come to terms with, but now she takes responsibility for it so now she's like my biggest fan and my best friend and that's why I'm naming the house after her.
Rosie: Was it difficult to talk about the stuff that had happened in your childhood?
Vanessa: It is difficult because my blood family doesn't appreciate the fact that I'm talking about it because some people want to keep it a secret. But you've got to heal and you've got to talk about things so you can move on.
Rosie: Right. Your blood family meaning?
Vanessa: My blood family. My real family. I'm not really very much in touch with them because they don't want to come out and talk about everything that happened.
Rosie: Right. But your mom
Vanessa: Except my mother, yes and my sister.
Rosie: Right. Now you have a new profession. You're going to be a photographer.
Vanessa: Yes (very excited) yes I'm taking pictures. I'm doing a book of nudes (looks at the audience with a shocked expression).
Rosie: Really? Famous nudes or just any nudes?
Vanessa: Famous nudes and normal people. It's called We. Rosie: Famous and normal. (Laughs)
Vanessa: Famous and normal.
Rosie: it's a good way to separate them. (audience laughs)
Vanessa: It really is.
Rosie: And how do you pick the normal ones? You go to the mall. (points to someone) You take it off!!!
Vanessa: You're normal!!!! (audience laughs) Um it's united we stand, divided we fall. It's called we. It's everybody all together.
Rosie: Totally nude.
Vanessa: Yeah, except the famous people. You won't be able to see their faces. You won't know who they are.
Rosie: That's even scarier. (audience laughs)
Vanessa: you've got to buy it and guess. Rosie will be in it.
Rosie: Lets say I was in it and I couldn't identify my own body. Wouldn't that be frightening? Who is that? Ahhhhhhh!
(audience laughs)
Vanessa: I brought you a present.
Rosie: What'd you bring?
Vanessa: I brought you a gift that was given to me and I want to give it to you. You have to put it on your finger. (puts the heart shape ring on Rosie's finger)
Rosie: Yeah what is it? It's a nice heart.
Vanessa: And press it.
Rosie: Oh and it lights up.
Vanessa: And it lights up. Rosie: Look at that. Isn't that sweet! A little love going around today. I enjoy that. Thank you Vanessa.
Vanessa: Your welcome.
Rosie: Who gave it to you?
Vanessa: A friend.
Rosie: Yeah?
Vanessa: Uh huh!
Rosie: That's sweet. Everything going good in the acting life? Trying to concentrate more on other things right now?
Vanessa: Well I quit 90210 in December to spend more time with my family and to get all these things going that I'm doing which is the book and the ranch for the kids and I've never been happier. I needed some time to fill my heart up again.
Rosie: Sometimes you get on the track, no matter what your business is and all you think about is work.
Vanessa: Yeah you start working to try and achieve the 'American Dream' and you realize you haven't spent time with your family or friends or whatever and you wonder what you're doing it all for.
Rosie: Yeah I think that's important to take the time to take it all in because along the road the goal is not the ending but the journey right?
Vanessa: Exactly. The four agreements!
Rosie: The four agreements! (gives Vanessa a high five) Oprah told me about that book.
Vanessa: My favorite one. Don't take?
Rosie and Vanessa: ? anything personally!!!!
Rosie: That's what I'm doing today.
Vanessa: Which is the hardest thing in the world.
Rosie: it is, yes. Well it's lovely to see you.
Vanessa: (cuts in) Especially when they're like she's too skinny'. You're always too something. She's too old, she's too young, too short, too tall.
Rosie: I've never had the too skinny one but that' ok. (audience laughs)
Vanessa: I also have to show you my new tattoo before I leave. (shows the Lakers tattoo she has on here right upper arm)
Rosie: Yeah but that's fake. Who are you kidding!
Vanessa: Oh I know.
Rosie: Lakers! It's totally fake.
Vanessa: Oh I know it's fake.
Rosie: It will totally come off when they LOSE. (Rosie looks pleased with herself) (Vanessa is shocked and laughing)
Anyways! (audience laughs)
Vanessa: Ohhhhhhhhhh. Listen!!!! (music starts to play)
Rosie: We'll be back after this break. When they LOSE!
